Taking care of your appliances

The first thing anyone should do with a new appliance is read the owner's manual/Use and Care Guide very thoroughly. These guides contain all the information on safety, maintenance, and how the appliance is meant to be used. Washer and Dryer guides both detail how large a load of laundry should be and how much soap should be used. They also provide details about what is covered under your Whirlpool Warranty for the first year.

So here are some tips for taking care of your appliances:

-Clean out your fridge and ice bin at least once a month.

-Clean your dishwasher filter weekly if it is used daily. Do not wash stemmed glassware in the dishwasher.

-Run the tub clean cycle on your washing machine at least once a month with a cup of white vinegar or approved cleaning agent. All small items, like socks and intimates, need to be washed in a wash bag to ensure they don't end up in the drain pump for your washing machine.

-Clear your dryer lent trap after every cycle. Maintain your dryer vent by cleaning it out at least once a year.

-Keep microwaves clean, wipe up any food spills or splatters when they happen. Do not run your microwave empty, and ensure you are using microwave safe dishes.

-Keep free standing icemakers clean-refer to the Use and Care Guide for appropriate products to use in keeping this appliance sanitary.
